Correcting misalignment means improving your overall health and boosting your smile’s beauty in the process. While at one time metal braces were the only option available, we offer patients in Parkville, MO, treatment for uneven teeth with Invisalign®. No more metal braces, just a series of clear and comfortable aligners made from a BPA-free plastic material!

Why Should I Address My Misalignment?

Poor alignment isn’t just a cosmetic issue. In fact, poor alignment may make brushing and flossing thoroughly difficult and provide places for food particles to become trapped, a combination that could lead to higher rates of tooth decay and gum disease. For some, uneven teeth could lead to pressure on your jaw joints, pressure that makes the onset of TMJ disorder and bruxism more likely, causing serious discomfort and even damaged teeth. However, by correcting your smile’s alignment, you protect your teeth and gums from these complications while also boosting your smile’s overall appearance.

Creating Your Custom Orthodontics

In order for the treatment to work, your aligners need to be custom-made to ensure a proper fit and accurate treatment. We will take detailed digital images of your teeth, which will be used in an Invisalign® lab to create a series of aligners from clear plastic. Not only will they fit correctly, but they also prevent the gum and cheek irritation often encountered with metal braces, while remaining practically invisible when worn.

The Treatment Process

Treatment involves wearing a set for about two weeks, for 20 to 23 hours each day. After around two weeks, you move on to the next set of aligners. As time goes by, the teeth will gently and gradually be repositioned, addressing your minor or severe misalignment in about a year. Teens, who are still growing, may require up to 18 months. During your treatment process, you can remove them prior to meals, which means you don’t have to worry about avoiding foods that could become stuck in metal braces. You also have a much easier time brushing and flossing when you remove your aligners. As long as you manage to wear them each day for the amount of time the dentist recommends, you can also take out your orthodontics for special occasions, such as dates, job interviews, or graduations.
